VST Plugin Analyser
The VST Plugin Analyser allows you to analyse a VST plugin from bottom to top. With several precustomised measurement procedures you can check the impulse/frequency response, have a look at the phase/group delay, identify if the plugin causes distortion and if so, what type it is.
The latest additions cover dynamics. So you can plot the static characteristic, plot the attack/release envelope, make a peak/RMS test or setup your own measurement procedure by using the so called measurment workbench.
Several plots can be stacked inside the program, which allows you to create series of single parameters. The plots can be exported to PNG or SVG (Scalable Vector Format). The vector format allows you to open the plot with any vector program to edit and convert it. It is even possible to import those plots to create a flash animation depending on the vector program you are using.

Deconvolver
The tool ‘Deconvolver’ simply allows you to deconvolve two signals to find the transfer function that transforms one signal into the other (in the time domain this is also known as the impulse response). Although it does theoretically only work for linear, time invariant systems, you can also get a rough idea of the transfer function and all the other mojo if you only apply a window to remove artifacts.
In the above screenshot an unknown nonlinear device has been used. Only a dry and a wet music signal were given, but I was able to find out that upsampling was used (see steep cut-off around Nyquist frequency)
JND test for EQ peak filters
The purpose of this tool is to find the just noticeable difference for EQ filters. In version 1.0 only one test has been defined to test the just noticeable gain difference for a peak EQ filter at a frequency of 1 kHz and a bandwidth of 1 octave.

General ABX Test
Several years ago I wrote a General ABX Test tool to check for example the lowest possible bitrate of MP3 files I could notice. Since nobody seemed to have interest in this tool I discontinued the development.

ABX Test for VST-Plugins
Based on the general ABX Test I created a similar tool especially aimed for testing VST plugins. This ABX test for VST-Plugins tool is only for comparing two different VST plugins. You can load them side by side. A built-in measurment tool allows you to display several properties of the VST plugin, allowing you to create very similar presets for both plugins. After that you can start a double blind test, so that you can conform whether you hear a difference or not.
Simple Deconvolver
The Simple Deconvolver is a tool made for measuring impulse responses. A more advanced program had been released by AIXcoustic creations. However, since going out of business it is no longer available.
Dual Channel FFT
Dual Channel FFT is a program that lets you analyse any spectral deformation between two measurement points. This can be useful to measure both the electro-acoustical and acoustical chain during a live performance. Or you can use this program to visualise the processing of your favourite VST-Plugin.
NOTE: This tool is quite old and not maintained any more. You can use the ASIO VST extender to perform the same functionality with the VST Plugin Analyser if you like.

To describe Photosounder’s Spiral as a music analysis plug-in would be accurate–but it does underplay its capabilities a bit. Spiral certainly does a great job of revealing the frequency content of music, but its fresh and innovative approach to audio analysis places it so far ahead of other plug-ins that it is almost in an entirely different category.
Frequencies are displayed in a spiral (no surprise there), with a chromatic band encircling it. It is a simple enough concept to be sure, but the ability to see what is going on in your music quickly and intuitively is noteworthy. Spiral also provides many other features that give you a more detailed and informative view of your audio.
Specs and useful features
In the Spiral display, individual instruments have specific colors that represent their unique positions in the stereo mix. The plug-in also makes it possible to capture or record bits of audio into memory and play it back at slower speeds. This feature is helpful for identifying individual notes or deciphering chords.
You can even adjust the resolution at which stored audio plays back. You can lower the resolution for more precise time measurement for instance, or increase it when you need to analyze low-frequency instruments or complex chords.

Like other spectrum analyzer plug-ins that allow for the monitoring of multiple audio streams, Audio Mixing Analyzer is meant to be loaded onto each track to be analyzed. This feature lets you view Fourier block size in samples, and lets you set the overlap percentage of the FFT window. You can also specify the visual slope of the spectrum, change how the secondary spectrum is displayed, and even smoothen out the spectral display as desired.
